I have been granted interviews with two gubernatorial candidates. In preparing my list of question, I thought it would be great to compile a list of question from Mainers.
So here goes. You have one question to ask the Maine candidates for governor (not candidate specific). What's it going to be?

Good get! Since I have a third track mind, I'd say ask them where they stand on ballot access restrictions on third parties, or what they would do to empower voters who are disenfranchised by the two-party system. You might also ask them about the pending legislation on fusion voting in Maine.
It could also be a good scoop to ask their views on the various ballot initiatives you mentioned the other day.
Is there no end to your good ideas?
Seriously, though thanks for those questions. I'd be interested to see how the candidates reply, especially the major party runners.
In regards to property tax reform, would they support the notion of land value taxation or even split-rate taxation? The first (LVT) refers to taxing only the spatial-location value of land, NOT buildings and improvements, while split-rate refers to a lower tax rate on buildings and improvements than on the spatial-location value of land. A split-rate tax could even be thought of as a way to gradually transition over to a land value tax system.
heh. I do a lot of procrastinating when I should be working.
